Could Kristina Frye Be Red John?

There are plenty of reasons Kristina Frye could be Red John, too.  First of all, she also has red hair.  Her first appearance was in the episode called “Seeing Red.”  That would be another obvious “clue” in retrospect if she turned out to be Red John.

Another reason is that Frye always seems to have the upper hand on Patrick Jane.  Sound familiar?  It’s sorta like his logic is rock but her faith is paper.  Also, she volunteered to help Jane catch Red John.  When he turned her down, she went on TV with her appeal to Red John, whereby she promptly disappeared.

When Jane subsequently met “Red John,” quotes used because we never know if it was really him, he told Jane that Kristina would want him to send her love.

Kristina Frye - A Red John Suspect

When Frye finally re-emerged, it was in a catatonic state.  When Jane tries to snap her out of it with a séance, she says she is already dead and “talking to a ghost.”  This could be a great double-entendre in retrospect.

When you add everything about Kristina Frye up, you get someone who has Jane’s number intellectually and who can disappear for long periods of time.  Also, both criminals and heroes have a long history of using drugs in their storylines to feign catatonia or death.

On the negative side, of the four “candidates,” she is the only one who hasn’t overtly demonstrated the ability to lie, manipulate, or kill.  She doesn’t show any background of dysfunction or any current traits of past dysfunction.  When the show’s main character is as flawed and dysfunctional as Patrick Jane, it would be quite different to have the main antagonist not show dysfunction.

However, her unknown quantities and qualities give the writers a lot more wiggle room, and there are tons of ways this could be worked into the storylines.

Chances of being Red John: 4 out of 10.

Couldn’t be a woman, in the 2nd season, episode “his red right hand”, the woman who shot all the CBI employees, smiles when she meet Red John in de basement, just before he kills her with poison on her hand.
When you look directly after the shot, you see it’s a male who walking further out of the basement. Only see his back, but good enough to see it’s definitely a man.

I think, the way the show is written, Kristina Frye is definitely Red John.

First, Red John was offended that a psychic messed with him/her on TV and retaliated against Patrick Jane’s wife and daughter.

The premise of the show is that there are no psychic powers, but this is also hard truth. There are no psychic powers.

So how does Kristina Frye get her information? She’s obviously a very quick and accomplished liar, cold reader, hot reader, and intellect. But more than that, to be right as much as she is, she’s definitely setting things up. She’s toying with Jane about his scam artistry. She’s a master performer, subtle in her pursuit of fame.

When she gets everything right about a waiter at a restaurant on her date with Jane, it’s a setup. When she knew that the one killer would run with blood before the sun rose in the morning, she got lucky, but, was likely planning to have the man killed.

She broke out of her protection… packed… then showed up and “saved” Jane, with her silencer gun (and her voice), and even gave him a message from herself.

She knows exactly how he works, and, to be a person who is that good at cold reading, to be that detached and un-empathetic as to con people about departed loved ones… but to pretend at all times to be real… she’s a twisted genius.

They even look a bit similar, as opposite sides of the same coin.

Jane and Frye are the symmetry in the poem. They’re both exactly alike in so many ways. She’s amused with him in the same way that he’s amused with others.

Every other bit of evidence that it’s not her is a red herring because the writers realized that they were way too obvious.

Catatonic? It’s faked. She may be a split personality disorder or whatnot so that her comments about being dead are true.

But most likely, she’d doing everything possible to get close to him to twist the knife.

Remember… the most important thing about this show is that “psychics” are cold blooded rip-off con men who are exceptionally smart, and use that genius to read people.

Red John would NOT be someone who has obvious criminal leanings or cult association.

If it ever turns out that Kristina Frye “isn’t” Red John, I will remain 100% positive that the she was originally written as Red John and they changed it after the fact.

I think that, to a person who believes that ghosts and psychic powers may possibly be real, it may not be 100% obvious that Kristina Frye is Red John.

But if you go with the premise that her powers are fake, and she knows it, and therefore she’s purposely toying with someone who’s family was murdered… and every other clue that it’s her… and how the show expects people to pick up on some of the things Jane picks up on, but, Jane is BLIND to it with her due to the emotion of it.

For her to toy with him by going on TV, then murdering the interviewer… (notice she didn’t get murdered… just mysteriously put into a catatonic state? after packing and escaping from her own house?)

There is no possible way that she’s not Red John, unless the writers change their intent after the fact.

than how do you explain that the woman at the end of the first season. The blind girlfriend of Red John says that Roy Tagliafarro (who is Red John for sure) is a man she even disribes his height and things. So Red John couldn’t possibly be a woman. The woman also met Dumar, an accomplice of Red John so how do you explain that Kristina (a woman) is Red John

Where is Kristina Frye at the moment? After the small seance with Jane, there was no explanation as to where she was taken – a mental institution? Prison?
It’s really bugging me that she was dismissed like that!

@YRM I loved the explanation! It would be so interesting if she is Red John! Though, I do remember this ep where the blind girlfriend says its a man. But then again the writing on the bathroom by his “friend” (of a friend) did say “he is mar/man”.. I feel it means, “he is many”.. i dont know though, i havent seen all of the seasons but I have an idea of whats happening.

When Red John “saved” Jane and gave him the message from Kristina, the phrase “Roll Tide” was also uttered. Those two words are what convinced me that Kristina is Red John, from when Kristina gave an earlier reading to a character and told the wife “Roll Tide.” ONLY Kristina, Jane, and the wife heard it said. Yet, that phrase has been overlooked.

The “funny voice” of Red John is often mentioned, and when we do hear Red John speak, it is quite obvious that an electronic voice changer is used. Having heard the device a few times, I personally can hear a FEMALE voice being electronically manipulated. The episode in Season 4, “The Crimson Hat,” again has the manipulated voice. Although the person in the back seat turns out to be the CBI boss, when the conversation is occurring, the shadowed silhouette looks much more slender and feminine than him. I think the writers make some visual confusion occasionally to help keep us guessing, but yes, I think it’s Kristina. My main obsession now, is trying to figure out why she is doing it…
