Red John Still At Large
In the fourth season premiere episode of The Mentalist Patrick Jane was convinced that the man he gunned down in the shopping mall was Red John because he knew details about his wife and daughter’s murders that “only Red John would know”.
The situation, however, doesn’t turn out to be as it appeared, since the incriminating evidence that the man in the shopping mall had on him was not present, so the suspicions then turn to find out who removed the evidence before the police arrived. Regardless, the man’s identity is revealed, he used the name Timothy Carter, a local respected businessman with no criminal record.
With Agent Lisbon and the rest of the team on suspension due to the problems with the investigation of Red John, they conduct their own investigation outside the official chain of CBI duties to find out who the man really is and if he actually was Red John. In the meantime, Patrick Jane sits in prison with bail set at $1 million – which he arranges using the skills that only he possesses.
Out of jail, Jane and the other suspended CBI agents discover that the mall security guard must have removed the incriminating evidence on the body of the man using the name Timothy Carter, who they discover is married and by all appearances, a model citizen. The deeper investigation and Jane’s skills bring to the the truth, however, that this so-called Timothy and his wife are actually psychotic kidnappers.
The fortunate rescue of the latest victim held by the disturbed couple helps cast Jane as innocent, and the trial for the murder ends in Jane being found innocent of all charges and released, but with still many unanswered questions as to whether or not Timothy Carter really was Red John. Jane solves this question by bringing back the young blind woman who Jane is convinced was having a relationship with Red John under the name of Roy to have her identify Tim’s body. What transpires is that she alleges to not know the man, convincing Jane once and for all that Red John is still at large and that their cat-and-mouse game continues, despite that the world believes that Red John is dead.
In light of the elimination of the man gunned down as a suspect, a new suspect has been added to our list, and that is:
The man wearing red at the food court just before the shooting…
This video raises some interesting points and presents a plausible theory to suspect that man is Red John:

Oh…my….gosh. What an AMAZING insight! I’m SO glad I came across this!!!!! This was…WOW. It could seriously be that guy. Everything would make a bit more sense and it goes. Why would Red John personally go see Jane when he knows that Jane would probably kill him, and when he was in such an obvious place with hundreds of witnesses? That’s not his style. Red John is more discreet than that. His goal is to torment Jane forever…or a VERY long time, and to NEVER leave traces. He obviously wasn’t done with Jane just like that. He wouldn’t just…GIVE UP, he’s obsessed with Patrick. We already know that that guy wasn’t Red John but evil just the same so……Red John could most definitely be that guy.
I have a strong case to prove that Red John is actually Patrick Jane.
Ever heard of the poet William Blake? The first stanza of his poem “Tyger” was recited in the season finale of season 2 by Red John. William Blake wrote two famous sets of poems, the poems of “Innocence” and the poems of “Experience”. The “Tyger” was in the poems of “Experience”. The “Tyger” was also a sequel to an innocent poem called the “lamb”. I believe that Jane has an alter ego that is Red John. Jane represents the innocent lamb and his alter ego, Red John, represents the experienced “Tyger”. The lamb and tyger are opposites representing innocence and fierceness. Just like Patrick Jane and Red John. This would be a huge coincidence if it does not pan out to be true.
Another symbol that Jane and Red John are the same person is their names. Jane is the feminine version of the name John. Most widely seen as “John Doe” and “Jane Doe”. This could help prove that Red John is an alternate personality of Patrick Jane.
Also, when you search the meaning of the word “jane”, you will find that it is the name of a certain shade of pink. Pink is undeniably the feminine form of the color red. Yet another link that Jane and Red John are one.
Here is a quick look at what I have shown you thus far. (PJ=Patrick Jane, RJ=Red John)
PJ–Lamb–Innocent–Feminine–Pink
RJ–Tyger–Experienced–Masculine–Red
Those are clues I have found outside of the show itself. Now I will show some evidence that comes straight out of the show.
In the episode “Blinking Red Light”, Jane finds out that Panzer is a serial killer because he wants to prove that he is smarter than everyone else and he wants to get close to the case. This is labeled as typical serial killer behavior. Well, isn’t that what Jane has being doing since the first episode of the series? He has tried to outsmart everyone and he even became a CBI consultant to get close to the case.
It seems that all of the Red John murders have been one person at a time, except for the murder of Jane’s wife and daughter. Is there a reason for this? I say that Jane killed his own family while he was acting as Red John.
In the end it is just another theory, but a theory I find pretty compelling. People do not want to believe that their beloved Patrick Jane is actually an evil serial killer, but when you face the facts you find it is very possible.
ok, may be a huge hint… but what about Lisbons brother named james /03.07/… or J. LaRouge /3.10/
Has anyone seen this news item about someone in Canada getting email threats from Red John? The person believes there is a whole serial killer crime spree going on with clues that the Mentalist producers have planned it all.

Susan’s blog? Idiocy. She (S.M.B) watches way too much TV/Internet. The good news is her conspiracy obsession keeps her at home and indoors, safely away from the rest of us. Her refusal to organize her thoughts into complete sentences also reassures me that no rational person would waste their time trying to read much of her inane rants.
I agree with this theory and also might i add that i have another clue to support this theory.
I recently watched the final episode of the third series once again and i saw this.

Take notice of the “RED” Circle where that man in the Red sweater was sitting.
Coincidence?
I too am beginning to believe the Red Sweater Man is also Red John. It’s all very coincidental yet there’s more that points to Red Sweater Man then Brett Stiles! Also, look back to the ‘Guard’ who assasinates Rebecca. He has a similar build to RSM (Red Sweater Man). AND, when we see Rosalind Harker’s ‘Ray Tagliofelio’, notice the character is left handed and drinking from a cup and saucer. Now look at the clip of RSM. He’s sat with a cup and saucer and the cup is LEFT HANDED!!! It’s a good theory.
I like this theory alot. We definitely see the RSM cup pointing to the left and “Roy” is seen holding the tea cup in his left hand. The CHP motorcycle guy (blue turtleneck) who kills Rebecca uses his left hand to apply the poison. However, we see RedJohn shooting right handed and slashing with his right hand.
